Neither Prince Harry nor his wife has the best reputation among Americans, but since he is living and working in the States, he must be in the US legally, right? You’d imagine that with how strict ICE has been terrorizing and deporting immigrants, an ex-royal from the UK would be held to the same standard of ‘being legal.’ Well, while little is known about the exact visa he actually has besides speculation, one immigration expert’s idea about Harry’s legal documents could mean he’s eligible to be King of England.
According to a source speaking to the Daily Mail, Prince Harry might be in possession of an A-1 visa, which would mean the holder is a diplomat or a foreign government official, aka a member of the Royal Family. That would explain why he claims to have done drugs in the past when he was younger, but has gotten away with still living in the States without issue. The expert suspects that the wayward son of royalty likely has had this visa all his life, which would also indicate that “he is in line to the throne.” All this speculation centers on the recent discovery of relevant documents by the Trump Administration, which could indicate that Harry held an A-1 visa.
If Prince Harry Has an A-1 Visa, He Shouldn’t Be Working Privately

However, if this were the case, online critics point out that, according to official US government law, Harry would actually be committing a crime by working privately. According to Travel.state.gov, those with A-1 or A-2 visas are “solely to perform official functions or activities on behalf of their national government.” In other words, he would be prohibited from working or signing contracts with private companies like Netflix, Spotify, or BetterUp. As one person puts it, “That’s illegal; all the contracts Harry signed are illegal.” Another jokingly remarks that perhaps all the contracts are under Megan Markle’s name, but that wouldn’t exempt her husband from the law.
One Reddit user points out how he shouldn’t even be working with his charities in the US. Of course, some comment that there are likely foreign ambassadors with A-1 visas who get away with doing private business. But Prince Harry is quite a big name to be getting away with following the law, if he does hold an A-1. Going back to what was said earlier about the treatment of immigrants being a hot topic across the country, many on Reddit feel that “ICE should be knocking down Hazโs door,” too, since he ‘isn’t legal’ if he is working with his alleged visa.
Whatever the case, this is still all just a theory, a ‘Royal Theory,’ at that. But the reveal that Harry might be holding an A-1 doesn’t do any favors to his already marred reputation.
