Prince Harry can’t seem to catch a break with getting into controversies, even though the majority of his troubles are his own doing. And while he might be back in the arms of Meghan Markle, the Duke of Sussex still hasn’t escaped the bad publicity of his trip to the UK or Ukraine yet. And while he might not have gotten his photo with President Zelensky like he allegedly wanted, Harry did get into a weird interaction with a woman when he told her and her husband a very questionable joke.
A video uploaded to Reddit shows Prince Harry interacting with a couple, during which he made a “very inappropriate joke.” He noticed that the two had braces for straightening out their teeth, which is rather childish to point out, but nothing too offensive yet. Then, the ex-royal went on to say that because they both had braces, “It’s like a magnet,” before asking, “When you kiss, you don’t get stuck?” They quickly replied “No, no, no” with some awkward laughing. Still, the joke definitely isn’t something you’d imagine a proper member of the Royal Family to say, not that Harry is affiliated with the Palace anymore anyway.
That said, fans were outraged by how blatantly rude and possibly offensive Harry’s remark was to the lady and her husband. “He went his way to Ukraine just to flirt with this beautiful lady,” said the one who posted the video. “He never matured mentally and morally.” “He is scum of the highest order,” agreed another. Another person added how such a comment wouldn’t even be appropriate with close friends. After all, pointing out and making a joke about a flaw in someone’s physical appearance that they’re trying to fix is insensitive if not downright cruel. The commenter continues, saying how this clip is a great example of why Prince Harry should never host public meetings for the Royal Family, not like he ever will, at this rate.
“He really has no people skills,” adds one commenter, saying that the Prince’s joke is widely inappropriate to make to someone you don’t know. Another chimes in: “It’s not even funny. It was just cringe, immature and inappropriate. Shows he’s a bully too. Embarrassing the couple like that.” Countless more comments shared a similar sentiment that Harry, when it comes to actually interacting with other people outside of PR stunts, doesn’t know what he’s doing. This was quite clear when he attempted to gaslight a child into saying they disliked their sibling during this year’s WellChild Awards. Prince Harry might need retraining on how to act like royalty if he ever wants to get back into the family.
