There is no trouble in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s marital paradise despite the viral divorce speculations. The Duke of Sussex recently shut down the ongoing narrative about a possible rift in his marriage. He addressed the rumors positively, with jokes and cheeky clapbacks at haters, who had rejoiced at the breakup news. Andrew Ross Sorkin brought up the divorce speculations at the New York Times DealBook Summit on Wednesday, December 4.
When he asked Harry about the rumors, the latter joked that it wasn’t news. “We’ve apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times,” the Duke noted, stressing that he disliked the frequent media attention. The divorce speculations stemmed from Harry and Meghan’s recent separate appearances at different events, which Sorkin pointed out. However, the royal assured him that there was nothing wrong with his marriage. He stressed that there was too much interest in his personal life to address every rumor, saying:
“It’s hard to keep up with, but that’s why you just sort of ignore it. The people I feel most sorry about are the trolls. Their hopes are just built and built, and it’s like, ‘Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,’ and then it doesn’t happen. So I feel sorry for them. Genuinely, I do.”
Harry also addressed growing up under the spotlight and how dangerous the negative press could be. He claimed there were stories about him that weren’t based on reality, plus false narratives about his loved ones. After enduring such a toxic environment, the Duke learned to question the validity of any information, per In Touch.
Royal Commentator Weighs in on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s ‘Professional Separation’
Earlier this week, we covered that a royal commentator had addressed Harry and Meghan’s “professional separation.” The Duke and Duchess of Sussex switched things up recently by exploring more solo aspects of their careers. From attending events alone to promoting singular projects, the once-inseparable duo were rarely seen side by side. In August 2023, Harry released Heart of the Invictus, a Netflix documentary that barely featured his wife.
The show reportedly performed underwhelmingly, failing to reach the same level of success as the couple’s debut Netflix project. The Duke was set to drop another documentary, Polo, on the streaming platform on Tuesday, December 10. However, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams did not expect it to succeed, unlike the Duchess’ upcoming gig. “Meghan’s cookery program will have a lot of viewers. There is no doubt it will be more successful than Polo,” he claimed.
Like Harry’s documentary, the former actress’s show will air on Netflix in 2025. These solo projects, alongside their solo appearances at events, fueled the divorce speculations. Body language expert Judi James even analyzed the duo’s recent relationship changes. She claimed their interactions had transformed from twinned expressions to one that resembled the letter “Y.” This change allegedly meant that Harry and Meghan were embarking on “separate professional directions.”
Will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s “professional separation” continue, or will they eventually return to their joint career pursuits?
