Prince Harry would grace New York City on a solo tour promoting the Archewell Foundation and upholding the legacy of his mom, the late Princess Diana. Despite his supposed fall from grace since walking away from the royal family and the UK, the Duke of Sussex has made quite the impression in recent months with highly publicized trips.
In May 2024, Harry visited the UK to champion the Invictus Games 10th anniversary event dear to his heart. He journeyed to Nigeria afterward with his wife Meghan Markle to promote the Invictus Games in the African nation among other goals. More recently, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle embarked on a four-day tour of Colombia following an invitation from the country’s VP Francia Marquez.
Next month, Prince Harry adds one more stop to his string of successful trips, visiting New York City. Harry’s spokesperson announced on August 27, that the royal would visit NYC in late September. His visit would coincide with the UN General Assembly high-level Week and Climate Week, both of which center around causes known to pique the Duke’s interest.
The statement confirmed that this New York tour would also “advance” some of Prince Harry’s “patronages and philanthropic initiatives.” These activities would aim towards furthering the work of his and Meghan Markle’s Archewell Foundation. The Climate Week would run from September 22 to September 29, while the High-Level Week would commence on the same week, from September 23 to September 27. Addressing some of the planned activities, the spokesperson detailed,
“[Prince Harry] will participate in engagements with African Parks, The HALO Trust, The Diana Award, and Travalyst.”
The Diana Award is an accolade ceremony that takes place every two years, recognizing young people who work to improve the lives of others. The official website of the awarding body describes it as “the most prestigious accolade a young person aged 9-35 years can receive for their social action and humanitarian work.” Established in 1999, the unique accolade takes its name after Prince Harry’s mom and the late Princess of Wales Princess Diana, honoring her belief that young people are the pillars of society.
