Prince Harry received a warm welcome from royal fans during his UK visit, making his time at the Invictus Games event worthwhile. While the Invictus Games stayed at the forefront of Harry’s UK visit, his failed reunion with his dad King Charles seems to take center stage in the last few days. This trajectory is to be expected, as for months, the media has been riddled with speculations about the father-son reunion. Hence, the monarch’s decision to decline meeting with his son over a busy schedule while partying barely two miles away sent a clear message about Harry’s place within the royal family.
The UK Public Welcome Prince Harry With Open Arms
Despite seemingly being axed out by the royals, Prince Harry could still keep his head up in the UK, thanks to the support from his maternal family, and a horde of royal fans. Attending the Invictus Games’ 10th anniversary service at St Paul’s Cathedral in London, the royal received a warm welcome from the crowd gathered outside to witness his arrival.
A TikTok video which has since gone viral showed the moment Prince Harry stepped out of a Land Rover, met with cheers from the excited crowd. As the prince gracefully strolled into the cathedral, he waved and joked with some bystanders, before climbing the steps leading inside, where a clergyman awaited him. The footage, which has garnered thousands of likes and hearty reactions had the caption,
“I’m so happy for Prince Harry. This makes me so emotional, the reception he received was amazing.”
The poster also added a screen overlay praising Prince Harry’s willingness to stand by his beliefs even if it meant defying the media. It read,
“The King who stood alone. The king who doesn’t need to lay in bed with the tabloids to make him look good. He’s a genuinely good person.”
Harry’s Public Reception Is a Slap to the Monarchy
More fans of the Sussexes utilized the comment section to dish out praise to Prince Harry, commending his commitment to the Invictus Games despite standing alone in the UK. Most expressed satisfaction over the large turnout of supporters amid the many scandals surrounding the Sussexes. They praised the Prince’s ability to win over the people’s hearts regardless of the negative media coverage he’s received amid his fallout with the royal family. One commenter wrote,
“He stood alone and stood tall.”
Another commented,
“The real king who stands for truth. I shed a tear as he walked up those stairs.”
A third comment read,
“We need to walk in his shoes before we judge him.”
A fourth added,
“I’ve been thanking God the UK public showed up when family wouldn’t.”
Prince Harry’s UK visit did not exactly go as expected as his dad declined to reunite with him due to his full program. But without the public turning up, it could have gone a lot worse. In fact, knowing he still has the heart of the people despite the numerous controversies following his royal exit offers invaluable comfort.
Considering the monarch’s failure to meet with his son and the convenient hosting of the royal Garden Party in Buckingham Palace at the same moment as the Invictus Games service, it all seems like a deliberate effort to frustrate Prince Harry on his visit. To crown it all, King Charles awarded Prince Williams a military role which Harry deserved on the same day. The succession of events and obvious cold-shouldering was enough to make anyone feel cast away and unwelcome. But somehow, the public welcome cushioned the effect, reigniting Harry’s humanitarian passion like a much-needed confidence boost.
