Prince William promises to be there for Kate Middleton in her time of need. The princess recently shared she’s been privately battling cancer, and the announcement was met with both wishes for a speedy recovery and skepticism over Wiliam’s level of support. However, the prince, while on a recent visit to a charity center, assured a Surrey resident that he is in her corner. “I will,” William said after he was kindly told to “look after” his wife.
Since sharing her diagnosis, Princess Catherine has kept a low profile, as has Prince William. The former senior royal has not made any public appearances while the latter hadn’t until his stop at Surplus to Supper.
Despite difficult circumstances at home, William has remained engaged in his work. “You could see he very much wanted to focus on us and genuinely learn how we impact the community we serve. He said to the young people that they had really helped give him that picture of what we do and how important it is to the community,” Siobhan Donoghue, CEO of Perfectly Imperfect CIC, said to People after interacting with the prince.

In addition to caring for his wife and attending to his own royal duties, the Duke of Cambridge has reportedly had to assume some of his father’s royal duties as King Charles recently shared that he is battling cancer, as well. The king expects to make a full recovery and return to his duties at that time, but until then, William will continue taking on more responsibility.
Relations between the prince and his brother are still icy, too. Though Harry and Meghan Markle did release a statement in support of Prince William and their sister-in-law after learning of her health crisis, the families still have not made any meaningful reconciliation.
