As it turns out, Princess Charlotte inherited more than just her ethereal beauty from her mother, Kate Middleton. The Princess of Wales seemingly passed her love for a particular snack down to her middle child, who turns nine this year. Like mother like daughter, as the saying goes, and it couldn’t be more true for Kate and Charlotte, who are two peas in a proverbial pod.
Charlotte takes after her mother in many ways; her fashion sense, her coordination, her beauty, and even her likes and dislikes, as would seem the case. Most children Charlotte’s age would be begging for candy bars and plushies, but Princess Charlotte has much more refined taste — as one would expect from a young royal. Her favorite snack isn’t sugary or sweet, but actually rather bitter.
Quite An Unusual Choice For Charlotte
Kate Middleton revealed her daughter loves olives. Yes, you read that right. Olives.

Andy Cohen Regrets Spreading Conspiracy Theories About Kate Middleton Prior to Her Cancer DiagnosisIn 2018, Middleton visited Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, where she met with several young patients for house calls. During one chat with four-year-old Rafael Chana, Catherine confirmed some of her children’s favourite foods, but Charlotte’s wasn’t what most youngsters would imagine as an after-school treat.
Rafael informed Kate of his love for olives, which she reciprocated for both herself and Charlotte, who are equally partial to an olive from time to time. Quite frankly, it does present as a rather odd choice. Personally, I prefer my olives with a side of martini. Granted, Princess Charlotte is a little too young for that right now.
“I used to eat lots and lots of olives when I was little as well,” Kate said. “Charlotte likes pasta too.” Later that same day, royal journalist Rebecca English dished on the details. Kate was known as the “Duchess of Cambridge” at the time.
“The Duchess of Cambridge revealed today that her daughter, Princess Charlotte, loves olives and she encourages both her and Prince George to cook with her,” English said.
Her Younger Brother’s Preferences Are Just As Strange
During an appearance on Mary Berry’s Christmas special, A Very Berry Christmas, Kate disclosed that Prince Louis’ favorite snack was just as unusual as Charlotte’s. The royals are big on gardening and growing their own vegetables, so Prince Louis’ favorite snack is — would you believe it — beetroot.
