Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice are generating a lot of attention. Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s daughters have been attending royal events recently. With King Charles and Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnoses, the Royal Family is looking for other relatives to step up with the public appearances. The sisters seem like the perfect candidates to help maintain the monarchy’s image. However, it could be a bad idea in the long run.
Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice Could Spark Conflict Within the Royal Family
Rumors about Eugenie and Beatrice becoming working royals began last month. On May 21st, the sisters joined cousin Prince William for a garden party at Buckingham Palace. Their appearance sparked reports that the princesses could fill in during Charles and Kate’s absence.
While the sisters are popular with the public, their new roles could do more harm than good. According to GB News, PR expert Grayce McCormick warned that Eugenie and Beatrice’s royal duties could ignite conflict within the family.
The emergence of new working royals may fuel comparisons and competition within the Royal Family. It could potentially lead to internal tensions or conflict that could damage the monarchy’s public image.
Luana Riberia, another PR expert, says that the girls’ father could affect their roles:
For Beatrice and Eugenie, there is also the Prince Andrew factor. Although they cannot be held responsible for the words and actions of their father, I think their current strategy of keeping their head down and quietly getting on with life is a wise one for them.
In 2019, Prince Andrew stepped away from his royal duties following the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. Although the monarchy has shunned Andrew, the princesses are still supporting their father. Reportedly the girls were upset with Charles’s treatment of their father and making him feel like an outcast.
