Square Enix has waited quite sometime before shedding some new light on all of their upcoming projects. Featuring multiple studios and new projects, Square Enix Presents showcased lots of very interesting unique titles coming from the publisher in the future. With plenty of new titles coming to the PS5 that weren’t already available, there was also a healthy helping of new content not yet discussed. Yet, one title that fans have been curious about for a long time was Project Athia. Originally showcased last Summer with a teaser trailer for the PS5, today the title of the game was revealed with a trailer. With a final title set, Forspoken will officially release in 2022 on both PS5 and PC.

Meet Frey Holland, an ordinary woman thrust into a beautiful yet cruel world.

Formerly known as Project Athia, this is @Forspoken, a thrilling story-led, action-packed adventure from Luminous Productions for PS5 and PC https://t.co/84GoeTxcKH #SquareEnixPresents pic.twitter.com/A6r8plVEcs

The reveal starts out introducing us to Ella Balinska who plays the main character, Frey, who is trying to navigate her ravaged world. In a post-apocalyptic setting, the game is trying to diversify itself with fantasy elements that lend such a novel concept to the already eye-catching art style. While only showcasing a glimpse at what a cutscene is set to look like early on in the story, it sets the tone for what type of title Forspoken is set to be. Already giving off many fantasy thriller vibes at its teaser back in 2020, the full reveal trailer gives an amazing impression of what Project Athia is shaping up to be.

Teased after the cutscene fades to black is a quick shot of movement through the open-world wasteland and forest areas of the game’s map. These lush and barren areas are highlighted quite well even in last year’s teaser as it’s expected where most of the journey will take Frey. As the date grows closer to 2022, Forspoken is sure to be at more Square Enix Presents in the future.
