A proud Trump supporter harassed other tenants in his apartment building and boldly used a racial slur in front of a child. Seeing nothing wrong with his actions, he defended himself. The incident occurred in front of an apartment complex in Overland Park, Kansas.
A one-minute video posted on Reddit captured a heated discussion between a MAGA fan called Andrew Vershaun and his neighbors. Vershaun had just gotten out of the pool when the person recording the video asked him to repeat what he had said earlier off-camera.
The racist man was dressed in swim shorts and was standing barefoot in front of the pool when he spewed some offensive words in front of his neighbors. He wiped off the excess water from his body, stood tall, and asked if the recording had started. He then boldly introduced himself, saying, “I’m Andrew Vershaun and I’m Trump…”
At first, the Kansas man said he talked about anti-gays and apologized for that. However, that wasn’t the comment his neighbors were referring to. After pausing for a brief moment, he then said the N-word twice and asked if that was what the person recording the video was looking for. “N**gers?”
Shocked by Vershaun’s bold display of racism, the man behind the camera asked him to say his full name and where he worked. He repeated his name but avoided saying the name of his workplace. He also appeared unfazed, even when he was told the video was going to the police.
A woman off-camera criticized the Kansas resident for using a racial slur in front of a child, who was also off-camera. “Why are you so comfortable saying it?…There’s a child, come on.” However, he defended his actions, saying, “I’m not hateful.”
The video went viral on the internet, and numerous social media users called Vershaun out for being racist and also a Trump supporter. One user wrote, “‘Racist’ and ‘Trump supporter’ are the same thing. Haven’t seen a single one that wasn’t a bigot.” Another wrote, “60% torso, 100% jerk.”
Someone else highlighted Vershaun’s unremorseful display of racism. “Awfully brazen now, aren’t they?” Another user wrote that the man in question got “careful with his words” when asked where he worked. This was likely to avoid being identified by people online.
In outrage, one user blamed the media for Vershaun’s mentality. “‘I’m Andrew Vershaun and I’m Trump.’ That’s how brainwashed the media has these people.” Another user commented, “Trump does well with the uneducated whites.” Yet another replied, “It’s pathetic to see these people whose only identity is Trump and hate.”
Unfortunately, pathetic experiences like this are more rampant due to the current administration.
