Sony Interactive Entertainment has recently released a new software update for the PS5. The latest update, PS5 software version 23.01-07.01.01, was dropped to fix an issue with the Game Library content display. According to Sony, the update resolves an issue where Game Library content was being displayed incorrectly under certain conditions. This follows a previous update released earlier this month which fixed an issue that caused Discord voice chat to disconnect randomly.
The PS5’s last major system update was launched in early March and included a range of new features. In addition to the Discord voice chat fix, it added the ability to start or request a Share Screen session with a friend from their profile. The update also introduced support for Variable Refresh Rates for displays that support 1440p resolution. The last one being a much-requested feature from PS5 owners.

Other features included the ability to transfer data between PS5s, an option to upload game captures to the PlayStation App (finally), the use of voice commands to capture video clips, and the ability to sort and filter games when adding them to a Gamelist, making your list of games look aesthetically pleasing and easier to sort through.
In other Sony PS5 news, Circana, a research firm, reported last month that more PS5 consoles were sold in the US than any other individual PlayStation system has ever achieved in February. However, the news for PlayStation VR2 isn’t as positive, with an analyst at research firm IDC suggesting that a price cut will be needed to avoid a complete disaster after the headset reportedly made a slow start at retail. The very low number of sales even with the massive jump in capability mainly has the lack of backward compatibility to blame.
Sony also recently announced the essential games for April’s PlayStation Plus, which include Meet Your Maker, Sackboy A Big Adventure, and Tails of Iron.
