UK video game developer Firesprite has just announced its 2018 smash hit Playstation VR game The Persistence will be coming to Playstation4, XboxOne, Nintendo Switch, and PC this May. The games’ upcoming transition to consoles and PC presents a great opportunity for sci-fi horror fans to get in and experience some action they might have missed out on. This additionally is a chance for previous players to return to the game and experience it from a new perspective on the flat-screen. With the game offering some added tension and thrills over the original in new enhanced environments and post-processing effects.
The Persistence is a first-person survival horror game set aboard a malfunctioning space ship that has been caught just outside the event horizon of a black hole. You – Zimri Eder, a clone reincarnation- need to reactivate the ship’s stardrive to have a chance at bringing it back to earth. The game features a huge array of weapons and upgrades for use as you navigate through the corridors and rooms of a perilous spaceship. With a procedurally-generated environment, conquering its labyrinth means getting familiar with never really knowing if death is waiting for you around that next corner.
“When we made the move to bring The Persistence to new platforms, our key focus was to ensure that the particularly brutal nature of gameplay made the leap to non-VR. As a result, The Persistence keeps players on edge from beginning to end, and with a procedurally generated environment forming around them, no two playthroughs are ever identical, meaning you will never find safety in the same spot.” – Graeme Ankers founder of Firesprite Games.
The Persistence will be released digitally on Ps4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on May 21st for $29.99 USD, with a physical release scheduled for later this year. Nintendo Switch owners who pre-order the game before May 20th will receive a 10% discount. With the same discount offer extending to Xbox One owners between the dates of April 30th and May 20th.
