Time Loader is a game that asks, “What if RC cars could travel through time?” It’s a puzzle-platformer game that has been available on PC since November of last year. Now, console players are on track to enjoy the experience as well. Time Loader is coming to consoles next month.
Time Loader is a puzzle-platformer game that takes place in the year 1995. Players take control of an RC car and navigate a household, solving puzzles with a time travel twist. This is more than a casual joyride, as today’s press release explains. You are on a mission to prevent an accident:
“From wireless to wired. Experience a setting filled with nostalgic technology and furniture as you explore your owner’s childhood home, the scene of the incident. Traversing this 90’s maze, you will need to upgrade yourself to overcome the obstacles in your way, utilising homemade items to form harpoons, boosters, screwdrivers! Solve intuitive, physics-based puzzles to progress as you keep in mind the things you alter as you go.”
Entertainment media has never been able to completely agree on the rules of time travel. Various books, movies, shows, and games have their own takes on what is and isn’t allowed. One thing is fairly constant, however: Changing the past alters the future. The same is true in Time Loader. The puzzle-platformer features multiple endings dependent upon the player’s choices in-game.
Even without a time-travel mechanic, a game set in the 1990s may be a blast from the past for some players. The game’s Steam store page makes a point to highlight Time Loader‘s aesthetic, promising a healthy dose of ’90s nostalgia for everyone:
“Time Loader features music, references, and items straight out of the ‘90s. Relive your childhood or, if you’re too young for it, just gawk in awe at how primitive humanity used to be back then!”
Time Loader is currently available on Steam and will arrive on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on March 10, 2022.
