Actress Q’Orianka Kilcher has been cleared of the two workers’ compensation fraud charges that she faced last year. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office dismissed charges against the Yellowstone star as of today.
The fraud case against Q’Orianka Kilcher stemmed from an injury she received when filming Dora and the Lost City of Gold in 2019. She had hurt her neck and shoulder, leading to disability insurance benefits. She turned downed projects and told doctors she was too hurt to work. The California Department of Insurance alleged that she collected over $95,000 when working on Yellowstone.
The star relented and pleaded not guilty when charges were brought. The California Department of Insurance claimed that she went to a doctor throughout the year, but stopped treatment and did not respond to the insurance company. The doctor responded to the case by saying that if CDI knew about her 2019 work, “they would never have granted her the disability payments.”
In the workers’ compensation fraud case against Q’Orianka Kilcher, she was defended by attorneys Steve Cook and Camille Vasquez, known for defending Johnny Depp in his case against Amber Heard, from Brown Rudnick.
