Fans are calling Quavo a “hypocrite” for hoping Donald Trump supports his cause for gun reform. The former Migos member has been an active advocate of gun reform following the death of his nephew, Takeoff. He supported Kamala Harris‘ campaign to ensure the movement became part and parcel of the legal system. Although the VP lost the presidential election, Quavo was happy to join Trump’s corner for his cause.

He shared his hopes for the future of gun reform with reporters who caught up with him in LAX. After commending Harris for running a fantastic campaign, Quavo noted his willingness to work with the president-elect. The rapper stressed that gun violence wasn’t an issue partial to Democrats or Republicans. On that note, he wished to crush the problem with Trump and hoped he was on the same page.

Despite Quavo’s moving words, some fans believed he was the wrong person to push for gun reforms. These critics aired their disapproval on X after TMZ shared the interview video. One fan slammed Quavo’s gun movement as hypocritical, writing, “Not when that’s all he raps about. Come on man.” Another echoed similar sentiments, noting the rapper earned a living by “promoting guns and drugs.”

The criticism continued with someone arguing that Harris lost the presidential race because of “Hypocritical entertainers.” The fan blamed Quavo for gun violence, claiming he was a “bully” and a “piece of sh-t.” An X user stressed that fixing a system that was not “really broken” could lead to it malfunctioning forever. They pointed out that since Harris owned a gun, it implied the system worked for her.

Despite fans’ beliefs about Quavo, he has showcased a solid commitment to eradicating gun violence in the country. During Harris’s presidential campaign, he addressed the need for gun reforms at an Atlanta rally on July 30, saying:

“One of these issues that I care about is resolving the gun violence issues. You can’t understand the struggle of gun violence if you not in the field or in the heart of it.”

Quavo claimed that one of the reasons he supported Harris was her determination to stop gun violence. He recalled meeting her in 2023 to discuss solutions and declared she would stand on business if elected. The Hip-Hop star reminded the crowd that Joe Biden and Harris were the first to tackle gun violence. They launched the first-ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, with Quavo noting Harris would pass more laws.

“So, it’s only right in the birthplace of the culture is also the same place to launch the first African-American woman to run for president,” Quavo added. His fight against gun violence came from an emotional place — his nephew’s tragic death in 2022. Billboard noted the Workin Me rapper started fighting against gun violence after Takeoff was fatally gunned down. He launched The Rocket Foundation and has been involved with the Office of Gun Violence Prevention since its inception.

Will Quavo’s quest for gun reform earn him a place in Donald Trump’s administration?
