Queen Camilla marks her 77th birthday in the company of her husband, King Charles, as the royals make a traditional appearance. The wife of the British monarch turned 77 on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, marking her second birthday since becoming Queen consort. Along with the role came the responsibility of accompanying her husband to the State Opening of Parliament in Westminster, where he read The King’s speech. The historic speech, written by the elected Prime Minister and ceremonially read by the monarch, outlined Keir Starmer’s legislative policies for the coming year following the July 4 elections.
Cramped in the House of Lords’ Parliament’s unelected upper chamber with members of the House of Lords and House of Commons, the Queen managed to dress the part in her regal attire. Although not a first-choice birthday look, Queen Camilla appeared glamorous in a white ankle-length dress topped with her diadem tiara and the coronation necklace. She also rocked a pair of earrings and a silver clutch purse which coordinated perfectly with her flat shoes.
The occasion also saw the Queen match her husband’s ceremonial wear with a Crimson Robe of State over her white dress while leading a royal procession. Amid the traditional festivities, Queen Camilla barely had the chance to usher in her 77th birthday with a deserving feast.
Thankfully, Family came through for the Queen consort, taking to social media to mark her big day. The Prince and Princess of Wales shared a sweet birthday tribute to the 77-year-old on X and a snap of her in a blue floral gown. The tribute also shared to Insta stories read,
“Wishing Her Majesty a very Happy Birthday!”
King Charles, via the royal family account also shared a birthday tribute to Queen Camilla, writing,
“Wishing Her Majesty The Queen a very Happy Birthday today!”
Accompanying the tribute, the post featured a shot of the Queen in a royal blue outfit, posing with a beautiful smile. A clip shared to the royal family’s Instagram stories confirmed that the family got to celebrate the Queen ahead of the big day. The video, captioned “Birthday celebrations started early in Guernsey yesterday” featured the Queen, cheering on as a group of uniformed kids sang a birthday ode in her honor. What a spectacular way to usher in 77!
