Queen Dizzy Joins the Guilty Gear Strive Cast & Puts Mortal Kombat’s Sub Zero To Shame

You will soon understand why they call her Dizzy

Queen Dizzy has joined the ever-growing Guilty Gear Strive roster as part of the season 4 character drop with a new gameplay trailer and is the 29th playable character in the game. She is a mainstay in the Guilty Gear franchise, and this iteration is extremely volatile. Dizzy is half Gear half-human and is the daughter of Sol Badguy, the Fafnir-throwing powerhouse who is the face of the game.

The new character uses ice-related attacks like a certain someone from Mortal Kombat and can control the long range with ease, and only needs to get in to capitalize on her abilities. Queen Dizzy is considered to be a fairly easy character in Guilty Gear Strive according to Arc System Works, so if you have the opportunity, trying her out is highly recommended. She is kitted out with some scary-looking moves, some of her specials go almost full screen, and others actually achieve that objective. That may seem overpowered, but to balance things out, her specials are also relatively slow and can be air dashed on if timed correctly.

Her innocent-looking ice attacks, once they land, put her opponent in a frozen state. This freezes them in place and gives Dizzy the opportunity to close the gap and land some damage on a helpless opponent.

The frozen state ends once another hit is landed on the opponent, or if a set duration passes (around one second).

Queen Dizzy Comes With a Very Unique Kit In Guilty Gear Strive

Her moves have some interesting names, like “I Used This To Catch Fish” and “We Talked A Lot Together” among others. The former allows her to summon an ice spike from the ground, while the latter sends floating fish made of ice that go and literally bite the opponent.

While these look a bit similar to other moves in the game, her Ice Field and Wings of Light truly set her apart. Ice Field freezes the entire stage, this results in characters having momentum when they move, which makes them slide around, making spacing a lot more complex. This move applies to both Queen Dizzy and her opponent, so it can be a double-edged ice sword.

Wings of Light is what will impact her playstyle the most. Once activated, you can see yellow wings appear behind Dizzy, and if a certain amount of time passes (around 10 seconds) and Dizzy doesn’t take any damage, her wings use her Tension gauge to inflict unblockable damage on the opponent. This creates an interesting dynamic where Dizzy can summon her wings and then continue to apply block pressure to get the timer to inflict some free damage. On the other hand, the opponent is forced to go in and land a hit on her as soon as possible if they want to keep their vitality bar healthy. If Queen Dizzy’s tension gauge is full, this move will do around 60% damage, so it isn’t something that should be taken lightly.

If you already own the season 4 pass for Guilty Gear Strive, you will already have access to Queen Dizzy, otherwise you will have to buy her individually for $6.99. Guilty Gear Strive is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, and PC via Steam.
