A family in California has been described online as racist after a video surfaced showing them allegedly harassing and threatening fast food workers. Apparently, the family visited a fast food restaurant’s drive-thru to place an order. They claimed that the workers were providing rude service, which reportedly led to an escalation of the situation.
In the video, one of the workers told the family that they were being racist and said they planned to post the interaction online. The family then exited the car and began cursing at the employee. At one point, a family member leaned into the window and called the employee names. Some viewers online noted that the workers appeared to be Hispanic after another family member threatened to call ICE, while also claiming that the employees had been disrespectful toward them.
The woman continued yelling and claimed that one of the workers had given her the middle finger, saying, “I will have all you [expletive] illegal immigrants gone.” At this point, another family member, wearing a blue shirt, stood at the window and appeared calmer than the others. She explained that those with her were upset because the worker allegedly made the gesture and attempted to calm them down, saying, “be quiet.”
Despite the woman’s attempts to calm the situation, one family member told the worker, “I don’t give a [expletive] about your race card.” The woman in the blue shirt continued trying to de-escalate the confrontation, but when she was unsuccessful, she began to return to the car. Before the video ended, other family members made additional allegations, including claims that the workers had possibly spat in their food.
The video is gaining attention for showing a family behaving toward fast food workers in a way many perceived as racist. It has sparked discussion about how individuals from minority groups can also display discriminatory behavior, and it highlights concerns over how service workers are treated by customers.
Internet Users Reacting to the Racist California Family
The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers expressed concern over the California family’s behavior toward the workers. One person suggested that employees should have means to protect themselves, writing, “Fast food restaurants should have tasers. Absolutely insane for customers to behave like this.” Others commented on the family members’ appearance, noting that they appeared to be wearing pajamas. One person asked, “Did they just roll out of bed?” while another added, “Sweatpants are now for fancy occasions. Now daywear is pajamas and bonnets.”
Several viewers expressed disappointment with the situation. One person wrote, “Minorities being racists towards other minorities is the most cringe worthy [expletive] I can think of in our society right now.” Another commented on the woman in the blue shirt who tried to de-escalate the situation, saying, “Right, she was on their side at first and the more she got to listening you could see her rethinking her position and realizing the family in the car is ghetto trash and then just walked off lmao.”
The situation serves as another example of disputes that can occur at service establishments. It also illustrates how such conflicts can involve allegations of racism as emotions escalate.
