Working as a gas station cashier can often provide a front-row seat to some of the most unusual behaviors in human society. Case in point, when a presumed Potterhead or Harry Potter fan was spotted lurking about in a Florida gas station. When the gas station cashier filmed the Potterhead, he reacted rather violently for no reason and even started hurling offensive racial slurs.
The racially-charged confrontation in Orange Blossom Trail, Florida, has become the subject of virality among Harry Potter fans because the racist was unfortunately wearing a rather recognizable shirt. In the video, originally posted by TikTok user mindofapgl, you can see the angry gas station patron wearing a Gryffindor shirt, charging in rather enraged because he was being filmed.
He then demanded that the gas station cashier delete her video of him, and when she refused, yelling, “Hit me if you want to, you’re not going to touch me!” he stormed out of the gas station and called her a racial slur. Sadly, the confrontation didn’t stop there, as the racist Gryffindor waited outside the gas station and started slamming the glass walls, trying to scare the cashier.
It’s not clear why the cashier started filming the man, leading to many assumptions from the viewers, “He was probably outside ‘wagging the dog’ thinking no one was looking!🤣🤣🤣,” assumes one commenter, which could explain why he was so mad. For many, context wasn’t necessary as the discussion and the footage shifted to racism the moment the Gryffindor lashed out.
People Online Believe It Was a Sorting Hat Error
Further details from the TikTok user’s post reveal that she merely found the footage on her phone with no indication of how long it had been there. It’s also not clear if she was still working at the said gas station or what happened to her after the video. Some Harry Potter fans in the comment section still couldn’t get over the Gryffindor shirt; however, “That’s not very Gryffindor of him 😌🤣,” jokes a commenter, with another adding, “3 points taken away from Gryffindor 😂,” which is frankly lenient as a punishment for racism.
“He acts like every white Slytherin I’ve ever encountered….and I’m a Slytherin,” points out another commenter. Some Black people in the comment section were having some laughs at the Gryffindor’s attempt at racism, “They really believe the ‘N’ word gets under our skin,” with another deriding the insult, “Is that the best he can come up with?”
