It’s safe to say that slavery is considered one of the worst aspects of human history. Not only was it incredibly cruel, but its lasting legacy has continued on into modern society due to systemic racism that is so deeply rooted in the world at large. Even in this day and age, there are some racist people who don’t see slavery as the terrible thing that it truly is. Case in point, a furious woman from Illinois was caught on camera having an angry rant about slavery on a bus ride in Chicago, and her fellow passengers were not very pleased by her unhinged outburst.
In a recent TikTok video, shared by user @jaykingaslan, a middle-aged White woman (read: a Karen) was recorded having a verbal altercation with other passengers on a bus centering on slavery. The video is accompanied by the caption, “Another day Another Karen Another Day in Chicago” along with a couple of laughing emojis.
The footage starts in the middle of her heated rant, as she stands in front of a bus-full of people — many of whom are POC — and yells, “You sit up there and ask for sh*t all the f*cking time and Whites get nothing! We work for 23 years. Guess why you guys went for slavery? Because it was so extreme for a long time. That’s the truth! They owed so much f*cking money! That’s why they were enslaved!” While she’s ranting and raving you can hear a chorus of passengers who completely disagree with the Karen’s wild claims, shouting things like, “Shut up, b*tch!“, “Shut up, girl!” and “Get off the bus!”
The Karen, who is sporting a black, white, and brown stripy dress, isn’t too happy with the other passengers disagreeing with her, and she retorts, “F*ck you, a*shole! F*ck you, b*tch!” to a couple of her naysayers. However, she continues her racist rant, “That’s the truth! You guys did it so bad to White families back then that you went into slavery! You’re stupid! You’re dumb as f*ck!“
She then proceeds to single out one of the passengers, and begins making further racist remarks, declaring, “This lady either has a White person inside her, instead of White, and she’s f*cking Black! Only people who do that sh*t are actually Black. This person has been Black before, and she has a White person in! That’s the truth! F*cking sickening! You’re lazy f*cking b*tches!”
Next, the Karen begins body-shaming her target, yelling, “You have to have a Black person in, or person in, to look that White. You’re probably a Black person who weighs 500 pounds! Do you know you have a White person in, to starve out to stay White and thin. You know you do, you f*cking b*tch! That’s the truth!” After some brief back and forth, and some laughter from some of the other passengers, the Karen gets off the bus, ending the clip.

As the footage continues to circulate online, netizens flooded the comments section with their reactions to the shocking clip. Over on Reddit, one person expressed, “Hey, guys. I think people are going insane. Like, I get that there are racists and bigots all around us but she seems unhinged.” while another wrote, “She needs someone to talk to… and hopefully it’s a therapist.” On TikTok, meanwhile, one user was shocked at the Karen’s emboldened racism, penning, “And they say Chicago isn’t safe. This woman was too safe. She. Felt. So. Safe.” A fourth comment read, “I love how the white people checked her 🤣🤣”
