A North Carolina man was filmed outside a KFC on Market Street allegedly waiting for a teenage employee after becoming furious over a delayed order.
The video, shared on Reddit by r/Wilmington, shows the man standing outside the restaurant near a metal fence and arguing with a woman who is recording him. He claims he was left waiting for 45 minutes in the hot sun after the employee allegedly told him that drive-through orders were being served first.
The man says he plans to complain to KFC’s corporate office, but his anger quickly turns toward the employee. Although the boy is not seen in the footage, the man repeatedly calls him racial slurs and insults him, while demanding that he come outside.
The woman recording him points out that the employee is a minor and asks why he is calling him the slur. The man does not back down. He says he does not care that the employee is a minor and continues using the slur, at one point bizarrely claiming that a white person can also be called it if they “act like” one.
The situation becomes more serious when the man reveals that he is not simply venting about the incident. “I’m waiting for him to get off work, and I’m gonna beat his *expletive*,” he says.
The woman tells him she is going to call the police. He tells her she should, before ending the confrontation.
According to the Reddit post, the employee was reportedly so frightened that he was afraid to leave the restaurant and had to be picked up by his aunt. A family member later added that another coworker did call the police, but the man had left by the time officers arrived.
Internet Reacts to North Carolina KFC Confrontation
The video prompted swift criticism once it began circulating. One commenter wrote, “Sounds like a MAGAt by the way they’re talking. Also, they’re ‘Indian,’ homie just shut up. You don’t need KFC so bad that you gonna start lying about *expletive*.” Another pointed to the seriousness of the threat, writing, “Call the cops. Threatening to assault a minor is a serious offense; you also have it on camera.”
Several commenters focused on the racism itself. One wrote, “That is a racist son of a *expletive*. I don’t care what happened that language is completely unnecessary,” while another added, “Just a small reminder, just because certain people don’t say the N word, doesn’t mean they’re not racist.”
A separate commenter took aim at the man’s demeanor, joking that “he looks like he’s about to pop from his high blood pressure.”
The footage does not show the employee the man was referring to, so his account of the 45-minute wait and what happened inside the North Carolina KFC outlet cannot be independently confirmed from the video. It also remains unclear how long he had been outside the restaurant before the recording began, despite his references to waiting in the sun.
