A Kentucky woman calls out her former employer after they allegedly ask for her help the day after firing her. Gracie claims that she was told, “This was not a good fit,” only to receive an e-mail the next day that had her “absolutely cackling.” The TikTok of her reading the e-mail has over 347,000 views and over 47,000 likes.
Gracie alleges that her employer couldn’t provide a single reason for firing her. She explains, “They could not point to my performance. They couldn’t point to any mistake that I made.” She also claims she couldn’t retrieve any of her personal belongings. She doesn’t specify what was left behind, but says HR escorted her out of the building. The next day, her former employer sent an e-mail saying they hoped she was doing well and that they were trying to access the company-issued iPhone she returned. The email said they “need your help with one item.”
They explained that they can’t reset or unlock her phone without the information she set up. So they asked her to send the 4-digit passcode and the Apple ID password. However, she “obviously didn’t respond.” Gracie explains that since they stripped her of a paycheck and removed her from the payroll, she shouldn’t have to respond. To her, they should have thought of this before firing her. Gracie is aware she may seem petty but doesn’t care: “They didn’t let me leave there with any sense of dignity, so why would I give them the password to my phone? Why would I help them in any way?“

Meanwhile, many commenters give Gracie a few examples of how she could respond to the email. One person says, “I think I would have replied that I guess we both have unanswered questions.” Another suggests, “IT told me I’m never allowed to give my password out.” Another commenter says, “It’s not petty. You don’t go there anymore😂 respond with ‘new phone who’s this!'” A few have suggestions for how she can be even more petty, such as one says, “Report them as phishing. Maybe you’ll get a celebration email in return.”
Gracie’s video has also received comments from others in similar situations. One claims that after they were fired, they refused to hand over the company TikTok password: “I was like, hmm, can’t remember, guess you gotta reset it, and they still haven’t gotten back in.” Another states that they were told it was a permanent position but was secretly filed as a temp, which they found out when they were fired a few months later. They state, “I wiped the hard drive of everything I was working on before I left. Be messy and petty.”
Gracie assures that she did get her belongings back when the company shipped them to her. She also confirms that she still hasn’t responded to the e-mail.
