This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

Do you want to know how to unlock new characters in Raft? While you can only choose from two characters at the beginning of the game, you can unlock four more characters in the later game. Each character has a unique appearance but does not have any special skills or abilities. To unlock new characters, you must complete the game’s story, build a Receiver and three Antennas, and enter the coordinates of each character. By sailing to each character, you will automatically unlock it and be able to use it. Sounds easy, but since the game has a random map generation, we can’t report the coordinates of each character. You can find all the coordinates and unlock the characters yourself, and our guide aims to help you with this.

How to Unlock New Characters in Raft

First, note that you will not be able to unlock new characters at the very beginning of the game. Moreover, some of them you can get only at the end of the storyline.

Follow the story at the beginning, gradually developing and making your raft island more comfortable. After a few hours of intense play, you will have created a Receiver and three Antennas. This moment is the starting point for unlocking new characters.

Look at the Receiver interface. In addition to the green dots indicating the nearest islands, there are also blue ones. Blue dots represent new story points. When visiting new attractions, look for notes with new characters’ coordinates.

As we said earlier, there are four new characters in total:

  • Tala
  • Johnny
  • Elaine
  • Shogo

And here’s where you can find each of them.

How to Unlock Tala in Raft

Visit Radio Tower. Go to a small room at the very top of the tower to get Tala. But to do this, you will need good parkour skills.

How to Unlock Johnny in Raft

Visit Balboa Island. Arriving on the island, find Relay Station #6, located at the top of the island. Next, enter the building and go the narrow stairs to find and unlock Johnny.

How to Unlock Elaine in Raft

Visit Tangaroa Island. You need to get into the top room of the Tangaroa building. You can enter this room only through the roof, after part of the building is in the ocean. If you can’t get into the building, keep going through the story and come back here later.

How to Unlock Shogo in Raft

Visit Temperance. First, you need to find a few items: a blowtorch and the Selene Key. After receiving these items, you can enter the Selene Research Facility building. Next, you need to solve several puzzles, enter the reactor room, go through the snowy tunnel and interact with the computer on the left side of the room. By doing all this, you will unlock Shogo.

Raft is available on PC.
