British games developer Rebellion Developments Ltd. has purchased the rights to Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries, a Kickstarter crowd-funded game.
Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries was put on indefinite hiatus when original developer Grin declared bankruptcy back in August, despite finishing the game they were unable to fulfill all backer incentives. Speaking on the subject of backers, Rebellion has insured ” it looks very likely we’ll be able to provide all physical add-on rewards at no further cost to backers.”
Speaking on the progression and possible sequels to the game, Rebellion has stated they will not continue to update the original, due to Unreal Engine 3 (what the game runs on) not being compatible with Rebellion’s in-house game engine. On the uncertainty of the future for Woolfe, Rebellion has said, “we’ll be sure to look at and consider all possibilities as we evaluate what to do next”, Rebellion has said they will update fans after the company has had time to go through all the assets it has purchased. Don’t expect a new installment anytime soon.
Rebellion is best known for the Sniper Elite trilogy, a series spanning 10 years, as well as 2010’s Alien vs. Predator and the Nazi Zombie Army game series.
