Pranks are supposed to be harmless. That’s what makes them good and enjoyable for everyone involved. Sometimes, though, pranksters can go too far, not considering the consequences of their pranks. Extreme pranks like this might end terribly, especially if a gun is involved. Thankfully, for a reckless Texas teenager, he wasn’t attacked or worse after he donkey-kicked a man’s front door at midnight. The owner shared how he was left terrified, not knowing what exactly was happening. The noise of the kicking is enough to scare anyone.
In a video posted by the owner, his Ring camera captured the prank, along with the teenager’s face. He is seen heading to the door before turning around and donkey-kicking it not once but twice. Of course, this made a bang-like noise that could have been mistaken for gunshots. After doing this dumb act, the young man takes off running as fast as he can. If you knew that what you were doing was wrong and that you didn’t want to get caught, why would you do it in the first place?
People had different reactions to the prank, with some viewing it as harmless while others considered it dumb. While the owner believed that the teenager was doing this for a TikTok trend, others thought that he was doing it just because. “It’s because it’s not for TikTok, it’s just some dumb kid doing stupid s**t,” someone wrote. Since this prank could have ended badly, someone else wrote, “And they wonder why people get hurt.” One Redditor mistook the donkey-kicking prank to be a ding-dong ditching one instead. “I think ding dong ditching has a longer history than TikTok,” they wrote. To which one responded by saying, “Donkey kicking the door is the trend. Kid didn’t ring the doorbell.”
On the other hand, several people believed that the owner was exaggerating and that it was a harmless prank. “Victims of a prank as old as time. What is this world coming to?!?” one said mockingly. This prompted the owner to respond, saying that the situation was terrifying. They wrote:
“Would have loved for this to have been your door. While you are tucked away in bed then awakened by 2 VERY loud bangs. Then trying to figure out what the heck just fell upstairs or who just threw something at my house. Pranks are are [sic] well and fun. But let’s not with this one. Keep you children respectful of others property. We do not have kids. These are not friends. We do not bother others at midnight.”
This variant of the ding-dong ditching prank is still very dangerous. The Texas teenager could have been shot. This already happened in May and one teenager was killed.
