If Pokemon and Stardew Valley had a baby, that offspring would look an awful lot like RE:Legend, the life sim, monster collecting JRPG. As a fan of both the aforementioned games, I’m excited to see what RE:Legend brings to the table. Developed by Magnus games RE:Legend is currently available in early access on Steam. However, as of today, it now has a release window of Spring 2021 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The Steam version will also be upgraded to version 1.0 at the same time.
Much like The Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening, RE:Legend will see players take control of a hero who has woken up with amnesia on Vokka Island in the world of Ethia. To regain the lost memory, you must cultivate the land to survive, breed and catch fish, befriend the locals, and craft weapons ready for combat.
Monsters by the name of Magnus can be caught and trained to help you on your quest, eventually evolving to make them even more powerful. We did say it was a bit like Pokemon. RE: Legend does seem like a love letter to these games, though, and will hopefully feel that way when released.
The playable hero will be customizable with a range of different options to play with and skills (such as logging and crafting) to learn along the way. The whole game will be available as a single-player experience, or you can take it online and play cooperatively with up to four players.
To celebrate the announcement of a release window, RE:Legend currently has a 40% discount in the Steam Autumn sale, making it $11.99. Be sure to let me know your thoughts if you’ve played the early access, and if not, let me know if you plan to pick up this wonderful JRPG.
RE:Legend will release in the Spring of 2021; we’ll bring you an exact date when it comes in.
