Before facing Faelin or Faerin in Remnant 2, you need two mural pieces, one of which is acquired by solving the Jester’s card puzzle. These mask-shaped objects can then be placed in the Beatific Palace’s courtyard to access the inner throne rooms of the monarchical duo. You’ll get the Faelin Mural Piece relatively early while exploring the palace. Conversely, the Faerin Mural Piece is locked behind the Jester’s card puzzle in Remnant 2, which can be confusing to solve. After all, the NPC doesn’t provide any verbal hints for the solution.
After you’ve made your way to the Malefic Palace, you’ll encounter the Jester in Remnant 2 sitting atop an upper level. This NPC is non-hostile and aims to aid you on your adventure — only if you can solve their card puzzle. The puzzle itself is actually no “puzzle” at all but instead a challenge of keeping your eyes on the right card.
How the Jester’s card puzzle in Remnant 2 works is that several cards will be shown to you. Each one will depict different faces, but the only one you should be focused on is the card with Faelin and Faerin’s mask. As soon as the first shuffling round begins, take a step back so that you have a clear viewpoint of where this specific card is moved.
After the Remnant 2 Jester has completed their first shuffle, they’ll begin the second round, during which the cards will spin and twirl about in a magical spectacle. Unfortunately, there’s no easy way to watch your target card except by moving your third-person view to follow it. If it helps, we suggest holding up your pointer finger at your screen or monitor as a means to keep track of the card.
Once the cards have finished being rearranged, they will fly out into the doorway-shaped alcoves in the chamber. Enter the quill-drawn door to access the room with the Faerin Mural Piece in Remnant 2. If you messed up and ended up in the wrong area, don’t worry. Simply turn around and return to the Jester, and they will repeat their card puzzle until you get things right.
