Resident Evil 4 Remake was one of the most anticipated games of 2023, and fortunately, it lived up to its reputation. The game is currently available on all major platforms, including PC via Steam and Epic Store. This leads to the question of how you can play this game on Steam Deck. Steam Deck is a portable gaming console made by valve, and here are the best settings to play Resident Evil 4 Remake on it.

Best Steam Deck Settings for Resident Evil 4 Remake

Steam Deck has become one of the most popular handheld consoles in recent years and the company of many players that tend to travel a lot or can’t stay at their place for a long period of time. This machine is capable of giving you a solid performance on the latest games on the market.

As for Resident Evil 4 Remake, the game hasn’t been verified for Steam Deck, yet the game runs smoothly on this machine, but you might have to tweak some settings in order to get a solid experience.

The good news is that Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 were Steam verified, and therefore, there is a good chance Capcom will release an update that will make the game run even better at Steam Deck.

Resident Evil 4 Remake, relies so much on graphical quality, and therefore it is logical that a machine like Steam Deck won’t be able to handle everything the game throws at it. Still, if you change the setting a little bit, you will get a solid 720p resolution with locked 30FPS which is amazing.

First, make sure the graphical settings of the game is on Low and the resolution of it is set to 1280×720. In case you see little black pixels when you are playing the game, this is not because of the setting but the OS of the console. So make sure you update Steam Deck as well.

The next setting you should turn on is FSR 2.0. There is no way Steam Deck could give you a playable frame rate with this option turned off. You can find the list of recommended settings down below:

  • Resolution – 1280×720
  • Refresh Rate – 60Hz
  • Frame Rate – 30FPS
  • Vertical Sync – On
  • FSR 2.0 – Balanced/Quality
