Earlier this year, we listed Resident Evil Village as our top anticipated game of 2021. With the success of Resident Evil over the last five years, it comes as no surprise that Resident Evil Village (RE8) would be at the top of most gamers’ list. In January, Capcom released a PS5 Demo of Resident Evil 8. This demo has only increased Resident Evil fans’ desire to play the full game. It also created the Tall Lady memes, that Markiplier and Microsoft pushed further. This weekend, Microsoft updated Resident Evil Village’s description; this update showed the Resident Evil file size for its May 7 release.
According to the Microsoft Store listing, the Xbox One and Xbox Series versions of the game come in at a whopping 50.02 GBs. The PS4 and PS5 versions of the game will most likely be a similar size; the PC version of the game will be similar to other games in the series. The Resident Evil 8 demo should have been an indicator of the upcoming game’s size. If you have yet to check out the Resident Evil Village demo, it is still available on the PSN. Check out the lovely Maidens as they try to kill you.
The 50.02 GB Resident Evil Village file size is the overall size of the upcoming release. The bundle can be divided between Village and RE: Verse. When broken up, Resident Evil 8 is 35 GBs and RE: Verse is 15 GBs. In comparison, Resident Evil VII launched on the Xbox One at 20.21 GBs. Resident Evil 2 was slightly smaller which was shocking for an enhanced remastering.
The Resident Evil 8 PS5 Demo rendered at native 4K resolution while running at 60 FPS. According to Capcom, Resident Evil Village will support ray-tracing on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Does the Resident Evil Village file size deter you from purchasing the upcoming game? Are you alright with the install size? Let us know in the comments below.
