The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson was supposed to be developing his own Star Wars trilogy. However, since the announcement, things have gone relatively quiet. Thankfully, he recently revealed that it’s still happening.
The Star Wars universe seems to be evolving in recent years. As big movies have had a harsh reception from fans, the TV shows have been incredibly well-received. But the roots of the franchise still lie with movies. After Disney Investor Day 2020, fans were left wondering whether Rian Johnson’s trilogy would still be happening. However, journalist Sariah Wilson recently interviewed Johnson for USA Today. Unfortunately. she cannot reveal specific details of the interview because it is yet to be released. But on Twitter, she confirms Johnson’s movie is still going ahead.
“Yes, Rian’s SW trilogy is still on,” she tweeted. “No dates or timelines because he has other projects going on, but it is happening.”
I'm just going to post this now because I can see that I'm going to get a lot of requests –

Rian Johnson only has one Star Wars movie under his belt at the moment. In 2017, he premiered The Last Jedi, with is still among the most divisive movies in the franchise. Some fans love it; others hate it.
We don’t know much about Rian Johnson’s trilogy. It is likely still very early in development.
It’s nice to know that his movies are still in the works. It appears as if no news is good news. There are plenty of other filmmakers developing their own movies in the galaxy far, far away. At one point, the Game of Thrones showrunners — David Benioff and D.B. Weiss — were signed in to write one. Even Marvel President Kevin Feige has a movie in development. Add these to the ever-expanding amount of Disney Plus shows in developing, and the franchise has a very exciting future.
