Weeks after Robert Downey Jr. gave Jon Favreau an official approval seal with his used gum at his Walk of Fame ceremony, things seem to get even creepier. A fan claiming to have the Iron Man actor‘s chewed gum from Jon Favreau’s Hall of Fame ceremony put it on eBay for a whooping sum.
The historical piece was supposedly created after Jon received the 2,746th star on the Walk of Fame in February 2023. At the occasion, Robert famously desecrated Jon’s star by taking out his gum and sticking it on it “just to make it official.”
Robert Downey Jr’s Chewed Gum On Sale After Walk Of Fame Ceremony
A fan now claims to have a relic of the cringe-worthy moment in their possession and listed it on eBay. Per the listing, the seller claims they attended the ceremony to witness the director receive his honorary star. By extension, they also saw Robert Downey stick the used gum and had the chance to retrieve it afterward. The seller listed the gum on eBay for a whopping $55,000 just weeks later. The listing featured a photo of someone’s fingers holding up the gum above Jon’s star on the Walk of Fame.
While there is no tangible proof that the gum really originated from Robert’s mischievous moment at Jon Favreau’s Walk of Fame ceremony, the seller assured potential buyers it was the real deal. To further clear any lingering doubt, the seller said the buyer could conduct a DNA test on the gum. This test would likely prove the gum contained the actor’s genetic materials.
Notably, Robert attended the February 13 ceremony at 6840 Hollywood Boulevard, alongside Chef Roy Choi, to witness Jon’s name placed onto the Hollywood Walk of Fame in honor of his contributions to television. The cameras caught the trio in high spirits as Robert stuck the gum in the middle of the honorary star.
Jon’s induction came after the Jonas Brothers secured their coveted spots on the Walk of fame, and many agreed he deserved it after giving the world such movies as Elf and Iron Man films.
