I’ve played a number of RPGs on Roblox, many of them based on anime, and Hunter Era feels like a slimmed-down version. Each island is relatively small, with plenty of quests and bosses to defeat on your way to max level. Of course, with this being influenced by Hunter x Hunter, we aren’t using devil fruit like in Blox Fruits; we’re using Nen. Hunter Era has several layers, and since the game’s tutorial doesn’t go that in-depth, a beginner’s guide is the best place to start.
How to Roll For New Nen, Family, Hatsu, and Color
With Hatsu, Nen, family name, and Hatsu color being randomized in Hunter Era, there’s a good chance you got one that isn’t very strong. Luckily, you aren’t stuck with what you originally got because the game lets you reroll for a new one. Oh, Hatsu color is the only variable that does nothing for you; it’s purely cosmetic.
Of course, you might not even know what Nen, Hatsu, color, or family name you have. You need to first find a Nen Master, who tends to be in the main town of each island. The beginner island has one, though, so you can find out what you have right away.
More importantly, the Nen Master (who looks like Gon) will let you reroll if you don’t have a desirable trait, excluding your family name, which is done from the main menu. Every trait has a rarity, and generally speaking, the more rare a trait is, the better it is.
The Best Way to Level Up (& Stats Explained)
If you’ve played games like Blox Fruits, gaining levels and dumping points into various stats will feel familiar. To find your stats, open the in-game menu and choose Stats:
- Strength: Increases physical damage (e.g., fists).
- Defense: Increases your max health, allowing you to take more hits and live longer.
- Nen: Increases the radius of your Nen. Adding points will unlock more abilities with your equipped Nen.
- Agility: Increases your max speed.
- Stamina: Increases your max stamina pool. Dodging, blocking, and abilities use stamina.
Now, you can increase each stat every time you level up, granting three points every level. The max level is 350, which is a lot, but you’ll burn through levels if you quest.
Questing in Hunter Era is by far the best way to level up. This is because the enemies you fight on the island are always associated with a quest, and since the quests can be repeated as many times as you want, it’s a win-win.
Another way to level, which I don’t really recommend, is visiting the Academy. It’s nothing more than a gym. You have to spend yen (the in-game currency) to use the treadmills; if you keep the mini-game going, you’ll gain experience.
That sounds great, but here’s the problem: you’ll be really starved for yen. You’ll earn some as you do quests, but it’s usually small, and you should really consider saving for the passes that let you cross the islands. There are also NPCs that teach special moves, like double-jumping, for a price.
Make a Habit of Visiting AFK Mode
If you reroll your Hatsu or Nen, you might quickly realize that spins are limited. Now, you can get more through Hunter Era codes, but you can also buy them in the game using your in-game currency (yen). However, you can also use the AFK Hub to earn some!
At the main menu, selecting the AFK Hub option will send you to an AFK screen. There’s a counter too, and when it reaches zero, you’ll get spins. Other players are here too, doing the same thing, and you can chat with them. Otherwise, you can leave this screen and just let it run to earn free spins.
Don’t Forget to Collect Powerful Gear
In addition to the different traits you can roll for and combine, you can also improve your stats with gear. As you’re questing, you’ll notice that some quests have you killing a boss. Almost every boss you come across drops an item, which you can see by their name in the upper-left corner, as well as the chance it’ll drop.
I recommend farming the item they drop because it’s usually an upgrade of sorts. For example, the Cap grants +100 health, while the Eyepatch later grants +500 health. You can equip multiple items at once, though some can’t be worn together, like the Ninja Mask and the Cap.
