Rock Band 4 releases next week and players will want to increase their song list with the DLC they bought during last-gen. How does one bring the old setlist back for one more road trip? By download the songs one song at a time. Harmonix has unleashed the floodgates and are letting people download the legacy DLC.

Start warming up and tuning your guitar. Downloading every song one at a time is going to take a while.

“First and foremost, you will have to re-download each DLC entitlement individually in order to play these tracks in Rock Band 4,” associate community manager Christine Burki explains on the Harmonix blog. “Due to 1st party technical restrictions, we are unable to support batch downloads within the 1st party stores. If you want your DLC downloaded to your console, you will have to re-download tracks individually.”

Rock Band 4 releases Tuesday. Start building your song list by downloading your legacy DLC over the weekend.
Rock Band 4 releases Tuesday. Start building your song list by downloading your legacy DLC over the weekend.

Want to know how to get access to your DLC? The instructions are below.

Xbox One

  • Sign in to your Xbox Live account associated with past Rock Band DLC.
  • Enter the Store and pull up the Rock Band 4 listing.
  • All legacy DLC tracks (that haven’t had their licenses expire) are now available. Find them under Add-Ons.
  • Pull up any tracks you already own. There should be no charge for a re-download if it has been purchased previously, so simply hit “Install.”
  • Repeat the process a couple of hundred times.

PlayStation 4

  • Sign in to your PlayStation ID account associated with past Rock Band DLC.
  • Navigate the PlayStation Store and pull up the Rock Band 4 listing.
  • All legacy DLC tracks (that haven’t had their licenses expire) are now available. Find them under Add-Ons.
  • Filter the long list to either “Free” or “Low-to-High” to find any tracks that were already purchased. Hit “Download” on your selected track.
  • Repeat the process a couple of hundred times.

Good thing that Rock Band 4 doesn’t arrive until this Tuesday, October 6. This gives people plenty of time (hopefully) to build their song list up again.
