In a lengthy post on her Instagram story, Ruby Rose revealed the real reasons she left The CW’s Batwoman series. The actress slammed The CW, Warner Bros., Berlanti Productions, and the executives on the show. She claims toxic behavior is ultimately what drove her away from the series.
As fans of The CW’s superhero shows know, Ruby Rose abruptly announced her exit from Batwoman in May of 2020. At the time, there were rumors circulating that she was unhappy with the series, but nothing was specifically mentioned in her statement. A few months later, Rose revealed some of the details about her departure in an interview. In it, she claimed the job was “taxing” and that she returned to work too soon after having a surgery.
Now, over a year later, Ruby Rose decided to speak her truth on her Instagram. In her post, Rose states:
“Enough is enough. I’m going to tell the whole world what really happened on that set. I will come for you so what happened to me never happens to another person again. And so I can finally take back my life and the truth. Shame on you.”
She goes on in the post to claim the former head of Warner Bros. TV, Peter Roth, forced her to return to work 10 days after having surgery. She also claimed Roth would behave inappropriately while on set and that he had her followed by a private investigator after she left the series. However, Roth was not Rose’s only topic of discussion in her post. She also detailed the unsafe working conditions on the Batwoman set. She cited a number of injuries that occurred to members of the crew while working on the show, specifically mentioning one who received “third degree burns over his whole body”.
Rose concluded her revealing Instagram post by assuring fans that she would never return to the Batwoman series, stating:
I wouldn’t return for any amount of money nor if a gun were to my head. NOR DID I QUIT. I DID NOT QUIT. They ruined Kate Kane and they destroyed Batwoman, not me. I followed orders, and if I wanted to stay I was going to have to sign my rights away. Any threats, any bullying tactics or blackmail will not make me stand down.”
At the moment, Warner Bros. TV, The CW, and Berlanti Productions have not commented on the situation or Ruby Rose’s post.
