When you think you’ve seen it all, someone decides to be a nuisance just because of the color of your skin. A racist Karen in New York ignored the two Black women who were having lunch and crashed their table. When they would not let her, she stood right there and ate, just to be petty.
One of the women on the table posted the absurd exchange on TikTok with the caption giving a bit of background story. She explained that while she was having lunch with her friend, the Karen walked right to their table, not acknowledging there were any humans on it, set a napkin, her gloves, and a fork on the side of the table, then walked away to get her food. The woman noted that they called out to her “politely” several times: “Excuse me, miss, can you move our stuff?” but she ignored them totally.
The women at the table had moved the Karen’s stuff to the floor. When she saw them, she tried to put it back, telling them, “It’s a table for four.” The woman at the table did not back down, explaining that she had not even bothered to ask if she could join them. The clip showed the woman complaining to an employee about the items she had put on the floor. The employee tried to direct the Karen to another table, but she would not budge. He then explained to the women at the table that she was a regular.
The Karen still did not back down; she kept trying to sit at that table, and when the women would not allow her, she started to eat while standing right there at the same table. TikTokers had plenty to say about the exchange. “That’s microaggression,” one stated bluntly. Another user pointed out, “If it were the other way round, they would’ve called the police already.”
One user, astonished, wrote, “The way they’re serving her sauces WHILE SHE’S STANDING AND EATING… this is wild.” Another turned to humor, “When you’re Black, you’re never really alone.” Some users addressed the employee and the entire establishment. “He is trying to appease her to keep his regular customer while potentially losing new customers,” one noted, while a second one wrote, “So they allow their customers to harass other customers?” One TikToker said, “This is so triggering… I crashed out at least 20 times in my mind.” While another wrote, “Eww wtf, the entitlement is crazy.”
A last user pointed out, “She stood there and started eating because she just COULD NOT back down.”
