The Last of Us Part II is surely one of the best games ever made, and it seems that even in tough times, Naughty Dog isn’t done with the series. A leak comes from the game’s composer Gustavo Santaolalla who has said that The Last of Us Part II will be getting multiple new editions soon, possibly a remastered version.
For those who are unaware, Gustavo Santaolalla wrote the music for both of the main games in the series, as well as the HBO TV series. So this news comes from someone who is well-versed in the series and has been a part of it for a very long time. Santaolalla even had a cameo in The Last of Us Part II, which he talked about in an interview when discussing the new editions. Specifically, he explained that in the new editions of the game, you can make the composer’s in-game character play music of your choice. This wasn’t possible in the original, in which he was just playing music. Santoalalla said:
In the new editions, you can make me play certain themes and, well, I can’t tell you anything else.
The Last Of Us Part II Remastered leaked
While we encourage you to take leaks with a grain of salt, it certainly seems as though The Last of Us Part II is getting a remaster. And since Santaolalla used the word “editions”, this might also include a PC version. Keep in mind there’s already a PS5 version that runs at 60FPS, but it’s likely that Naughty Dog will continue to iterate and rerelease this series as long as people keep re-buying. The Last of Us Part II has already sold over 10 million units, and that’ll surely go up substantially after the new editions come out.
In other Naughty Dog news, the company’s co-president, Evan Wells, has decided that he is leaving the company for good after working there for over 25 years.
