Ryan Reynolds has only hosted Saturday Night Live one time in over 15 years. However, the Deadpool actor is in no rush to get involved with the famous sketch comedy show anytime soon, either. Although Reynolds has a legitimate reason not to join the cast more often. Not taking part in the show prevents Ryan from having an awkward encounter with Colin Jost. Jost is Reynold’s ex-wife’s new husband. Ryan doesn’t want anything to do with Scarlett Johansson or Colin Jost.
According to In Touch Weekly, Ryan Reynolds may also feel a little outside his comfort zone. The cast of SNL is made up of people who are far younger than the actor. Put that on top of Johansson’s random appearances on the show, and it is enough to keep Reynolds away for good.
Ryan Reynolds Doesn’t Want More Drama With Scarlett Johansson
“I’d say pride is the big reason Ryan has steered clear of hosting SNL for so many years. The one time he hosted a decade and a half ago, he was surrounded by a cast that were true peers of his in the Kristen Wiig/Bill Hader/Fred Armisen era, and now the show is fronted by a cast that includes actors twenty years younger than him,” the source stated.
Reynolds is also pretty uptight about his comedy. The 47-year-old wants things to happen on his terms and has a pretty big ego. That may cause some issues for the other writers as they wouldn’t be able to get their ideas through.
Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds got married in 2008. However, after many issues, they decided to call it quits in 2011. After that, Reynolds got remarried to Blake Lively in 2012. The two Marvel stars have remained on rough terms ever since.
If Ryan Reynolds were to host SNL again, fans would surely go wild, as he is pretty well-received by most. Although Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost may not be too happy with his appearance. However, Reynolds may never return to SNL despite what the fans want.
