Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time has received a new release date and trailer. The action-platformer will launch on August 21st, 2020, for $39.99. It will be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4,
Adult Swim Games and Soleil Games announced the title back in February, targeting a Summer release window. Fans of the animated series will be happy to know that, despite the current pandemic, the team is sticking to it. Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time will tell the titular hero’s final adventure. It will see Jack trapped in an alternate timeline by his nemesis, Aku. Jack must team up with his allies and battle his most infamous foes in order to return home.
The game is being developed by Soleil Games in partnership with Samurai Jack creator, Genndy Tartakovsky. Soleil was founded in 2008 by industry veterans who worked on titles like Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden. The team previously developed 2018’s Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker, so they know their action games. Tartakovsky also worked on other classic Cartoon Network series like Powerpuff Girls and Dexter’s Laboratory. Series head writer Darrick Bachman wrote the script for Battle Through Time.
Eager fans will be able to find out more information during Adult Swim Con, which will be held July 23rd – 25th on Twitch. The panel for Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time will take place on the 24th at 9:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. PT. The panel will show off behind-the-scenes gameplay footage as well as interviews with Tartakovsky and Bachman.
Samurai Jack originally aired on Cartoon Network from 2001-2004. Adult Swim revived it for the fifth season in 2017. Its unique animation earned the show 4 Emmys during its original run and 4 more during its revival.
