Bullying and threats of violence at school can leave children anxious and fearful, and many parents say school districts must act decisively to keep classrooms safe. In San Antonio, Texas, a mother is demanding for stronger action to be taken after learning that a 9-year-old boy at her child’s elementary school allegedly brought a pocket knife, flashed it at classmates, and faced minimal consequences.

The mom recounted on TikTok that she received a call from the principal after school hours explaining what happened. According to her, the boy, who is a year younger than her 10-year-old daughter, pulled out the knife during class when he became upset that she was talking to another classmate. Police and Child Protective Services were contacted, but the woman says the school’s only response was to move the boy to another class, ban backpacks for him, and issue a no-contact order with her daughter.

The mother added that the boy’s family admitted giving him the knife because a grown man had harassed him while biking home, but she worries this only made matters worse. She also claimed the boy had previously been suspended for threatening to harm classmates. “If he gets ticked off or whatever at my daughter, who knows that he’s not going to…,” she said, expressing fear for her daughter’s safety and vowing not to send her children back until stronger measures are taken.

What People Are Saying About the San Antonio Incident

Many commenters shared her concern and frustration over the school’s response. “Why are no other parents talking about this? That district has always been full of problems since back in the day. All they care about is staying open and funding. Move your babies babe. Praying for their safety,” one person wrote. A different netizen urged, “Please don’t let this pass. Take it higher up because unfortunately they won’t do anything until something serious happens.”

Several advised her to escalate the matter beyond the district. “Take it to your state representative. They have contacts,” one viewer suggested. A second agreed, saying, “ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!! The school doesn’t want to take disciplinary action because it will count against the school’s rating… They do not want to make a formal disciplinary paper trail because it will downgrade the school rating!!!”

A few others shared their own personal experiences. “My daughter got attacked by a kid who had a crush on her it was scary,” one parent said. Someone else recalled, “I had the same thing happen at my son’s school. Except it happened on the bus after school. I made a police report & went to the superintendent. The other kid was suspended and moved classes & can’t be within 100 ft of my son.” Another added, “I had to take my issues to the district and the school police for that same district. Mine was a bullying issue.”

For some, the story deepened existing fears about school safety. “Oh hell no. How do I find the courage to put my baby in school when I hear these stories… Ugh,” a commenter wrote.
