A pastor from Christian Forgiveness Ministries, Kevin Kihara, was preaching on the streets of San Francisco on Wednesday. However, the street preacher chosen topic was transgender issues, and he was loudly spreading transphobic statements. Most people simply walked past him and continued with their lives. Unfortunately, one woman couldn’t handle Kihara’s words and stomped toward him. When she got close, she pulled a gun from her bag.
While others might have flinched or tried to run away, the street preacher stood his ground, only leaning back as the woman continued to threaten him with a gun. Luckily, things didn’t escalate further. After waving the gun in his face once, the woman said, “I should,” and left. In response, Kihara said, “You just pulled a gun in my face. Man, Lord have mercy on you.”
It’s unclear whether the gun the woman pulled was real. Some argued that it was fake, while others believed it was real. It is also unknown whether the preacher reported the incident to the police or chose to let it go. However, he did upload the video to the Christsforgiveness YouTube channel, where it received several thousand views.
After experiencing that harrowing encounter, the street preacher didn’t leave or go home. Instead, he continued preaching on the streets of San Francisco, spreading more transphobic messages. Not long after the first woman left, another woman approached him. This time, she only argued with Kihara verbally, but the exchange became rather heated.
Those who saw the incident online praised Kihara for his calm demeanor. Sadly, there was quite a lot of transphobia in the comments. Many intentionally misgendered the woman and made numerous jokes. “That woman has too much testosterone, should be checked for testicular cancer,” one Redditor said.
There were also those who kept a cool head and responded rationally to the incident. “Both parties are wrong,” another user remarked. “You are an *sshole to post up in public and tell people they are living their lives wrong because they are different from your beliefs. And you are an *sshole if you pull a gun on someone just for saying words you disagree with.”
A small number of people complained about the state of the comments, saying that the “far-right bros have taken over” due to the number of transphobic remarks. Others criticized the street preacher for his actions. “Do people like this have jobs? I’d love to have the time and money to just go out on the streets and spew hatred,” one Redditor asked.
