The 2024 Olympics continues to leave a sour taste in fans’ mouths. The biggest night of the sporting world finally kicked off on Friday in Paris, France, with all eyes watching. However, a segment of the elaborate performances rubbed fans the wrong way for allegedly being offensive to Christianity.
A depiction of The Last Supper painting by Leonardo DaVinci was a sore spot for viewers as it featured Drag Queens and a child. The reenactment saw a plus-size Drag Queen represent Jesus, with a DJ turning table placed in front of her, while the remaining Queens lined the long table.
Another talking point for the angered audience was French singer Philippe Katerine’s portrayal of Greek God, Dionysus. During his set, Katerine was half-naked, covered in blue paint, and had an erection, according to some fans. Another criticized scene was a headless Marie Antoinette singing as flames burst while French metal band Gojira played.
Although it is believed many of these provocative acts have different meanings according to French culture, some religious fans (especially Christians) believed the performances had themes of Satanism, blasphemy, and pedophilia.

As expected, X was filled with comments from raging fans. If the bad weather of the opening ceremony didn’t set them off already, the alleged “demonic” performances were the nail in the coffin.
Controversial internet personality Andrew Tate was one of the louder voices, bashing the Olympics for promoting homosexuality and Satanism. “Satanists control the west and they show you that they worship the devil. It’s not a conspiracy theory. They literally show you. Are you blind?” he wrote in one tweet. British journalist Piers Morgan also felt offended by the Last Supper reenactment. He lamented:
“Btw, what the f*ck was all this about? A drag queen mockery of the Last Supper at the Olympics? Would they have mocked any other religion like this? Appalling decision.”
A third fan remarked, “After seeing the 2024 Olympic opening ceremonies, if you don’t believe the world is run by Satanists who are openly mocking God and performing Satanic rituals right in front of our faces, you’re an idiot.” Another netizen shared a similar sentiment, adding, “Whoever conceived this horrendous Olympic ceremony must be a very perverse person, children also watch this. What are they trying to show to the world by showing a belly baring smurf, also enacting the Last Supper with an obese lady with a humongous cleavage depicting Jesus Christ.”
Some fans have even gone as far as vowing to boycott the rest of the Olympic games
