Savannah Chrisley is working on herself in major ways. On the latest episode of her podcast, the Chrisley Knows Best star opened up about what it’s been like undergoing an “intensive therapy program.” She explains that she did this to deal with different traumas throughout her life. While undergoing this journey of self-improvement and healing, Savannah mentions her famous family as a pain point.

Savannah Says She’s Tried A Major Therapy Two Times

During a new episode of her podcast Unlocked, Savannah Chrisley shared her experience with an “intensive therapy program” called Onsite.

I think for me, the whole reason I was going was to help me deal with trauma. Like, in my life from childhood to now, there are so many different types of trauma.

Savannah documented her therapy experience, which covered “over 20 years of trauma,” in a journal. As she broke down where that came from, she did point to “family dynamics” as part of the struggles she’s experienced.

I’ve been very open about my family dynamics, and I am not great at grace. There are some things I’m just not great at when it comes to, like, people who have wronged me. But also, understanding your family of origin allows you to have more grace.

Savannah Chrisley explained on the podcast that she held her family to very high standard. This was, in part, because she desired they’d keep up with the public persona they displayed. She felt the picture-perfect family displayed on Chrisley Knows Best was possible when cameras weren’t rolling.

The moment you see it for what it is, this is the moment you’re allowed to even give yourself grace for your feelings towards people or the situation, which is hard.

Savannah Chrisley Says Brother Grayson Is ‘Traumatized’ By Parents’ Appeal

Savannah has been open about therapy being important as part of her family’s healing process. The 26-year-old is guardian to brother Grayson Chrisley and niece Chloe Chrisley, while parents Todd and Julie Chrisley serve their respective prison sentences.

During a podcast episode last year, Savannah candidly revealed that during her teen years, she attempted suicide by taking pills. She admitted that though she was saved from that dark place, her “brain and memory” still get “foggy” to this day.

I remember that next morning waking up and there being a devotional that my dad had gotten in his email from Joel Osteen, and that’s why I speak so highly of Joel, because he kinda saved me. And the devotional was Romans 8:28, and it stated that through whatever hardships and adversities you go through, God’s gonna turn around and use it to your advantage.

In a snap of a finger, I went from this anger towards God to in my heart saying, ‘All right, God, you know what, why not me?’ Like, what makes me any better to have to go through these things than anyone else?

Savannah said that despite going through dark days, she was “pretty good” at hiding those feelings from her family. Today, she hopes that access to therapy for Grayson and Chloe will help them deal with complex emotions. Savannah acknowledges there are unique struggles that come with their life in the spotlight. The family’s current circumstances are difficult, but the big sister/guardian is doing what she can to keep them on the right track.
