TV personality Savannah Guthrie COVID-19 positive testing forced her to leave the “Today” show amid the Tuesday broadcast. This comes after Hoda Kotb has been conspicuously missing from the show’s lineup.
The COVID-19 pandemic came and caused unspeakable harm to people across the globe. Although the vaccines have gone a long way to cushion some of its symptoms the world has not completely rid itself of its menace.
One celebrity in particular who can’t seem to get a breather from COVID-19 is TV personality, Savannah Guthrie. She first tested positive for the virus in January 2022 amid the surge of the omicron variant.
Guthrie broke the news to Hoda Kotb during a January episode of the NBC morning show. She did try to allay the fears of her fans by revealing she only had mild symptoms, including “little sniffles.”
A few months later Guthrie tested positive for COVID-19 again. This time she announced the news via an Instagram post, where she shared an image of her rapid test result. She wrote in the caption:
“So this happened – again! Covid +, air filter on ‘turbo’ and it will be an isolating Mother’s Day for this mama!!! I feel fine, just slight cold so far. Thankful to be vaccinated!”

Savannah Guthrie COVID-19 Positive For The Third Time
Savannah Guthrie had to leave the Today show midway on Tuesday after testing positive for COVID-19. This will be the third time in about a year that the TV host will be coming down with the dreaded virus.
Savannah Guthrie COVID-19 positive testing forced her on compulsory leave from work. Nonetheless, her colleague, Sheinelle Jones was on hand to break the news to the viewers.
While speaking during the show’s 8 a.m. hour, Jones revealed:
“By the way, it has been an interesting morning for us. As we said, Savannah left early, she wasn’t feeling great, so she took a COVID test. It came back positive.”
She added:
“So, as soon as we found out, she rushed home to rest up. So Savannah, we love you, wishing you a speedy recovery.”
The “Today” crew did not give any further information about when Guthrie will return or who will fill in for her while she is gone. Guthrie’s illness also means the show is now missing both of its main anchors.
Hoda Kotb was noticeably missing from the show on Monday and did not return on Tuesday. There has been no explanation from the “Today” crew why she was absent or if it is also related to COVID-19.
Although Guthrie has been vaccinated, she can’t seem to shake off her COVID-19 hoodoo. Hopefully, this would be the last time she would be testing positive for the virus. For now, fans can only send their prayers and wish her a speedy recovery.
