Bruce Willis’ dementia diagnosis comes less than a year after the “Die Hard” franchise star was forced to retire from acting due to his struggles with aphasia. The Hollywood icon withdrew from acting after the illness caused his speech to deteriorate.
Sadly, Bruce’s condition has progressed, according to a joint statement issued by his family on Thursday. The statement, from his wife Emma Heming, ex-wife Demi Moore, and five daughters, was shared on The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration’s website. It read in part:
“Since we announced Bruce’s diagnosis of aphasia in spring 2022, Bruce’s condition has progressed and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (known as FTD).”
Following the announcement, there has been an outpouring of love and support for the family from fans and celebrities — including Ireland Baldwin and Aaron Paul.
