A woman in Seattle, Washington, got into a heated dispute with a contractor over a parking spot in a now-viral video. However, how she handled the situation has sparked debate among Internet users.
From the context given, a contractor was hired to perform repairs at Altavista Apartments. However, he had unknowingly parked in a resident’s parking space. Furious, the resident decided to take action.
The video, taken by the victim, captured the moment the woman in question opened the trunk of her white car and removed an unidentified white powder. She proceeded to spray the powder all over the victim’s car, which was a black Audi.
Yelling, the woman was captured saying: “Get this sh*t out of my sh*t! B*tch I pay for this sh*t, not you motherf*cker, I do! Yeah, film it all you want, motherf*cker, film that too. You got a nice Snapchat? B*tch you in MY spot, I paid for that!”
Still recording, the victim can be heard saying he didn’t know it was her spot. “I’m just working here.”
The contractor eventually went downstairs to take a closer look at the powder the woman had poured on his car. Still livid, the resident insisted that the contractor move his car, but the contractor continued to plead innocence. “I’m working here; I didn’t know that was your spot. I apologize, I didn’t know that.” However, the woman continued to hurl insults at him.
Eventually, the contractor moved his car, and the woman moved into her spot. Social media users were divided by the clip, with some supporting the woman’s actions and others condemning them. In the woman’s defense, one user commented, “I mean flour or baby powder, I’m assuming. Tbh, she could have towed your car, so you really lucky that’s all it was.”
Another user added, “I mean she said she pays for the spot… if that’s true, then move your damn car 🤷🏾♂️.” Other users pointed out that the parking spots were numbered, so “common sense” should’ve told the contractor they were already paid for.
On the other hand, another group of social media users criticized the woman’s actions. One remarked,
“She honestly could’ve addressed this in a different way. It’s not okay for her to vandalize his car.” Another added, “There’s no need for this kind of hostility. If you’re paying for this spot, you should be able to tow it, plain and simple. Some people 🤦🏽♂️”
One user agreed that while the woman had every right to be upset, the man probably couldn’t read any sign that indicated the spot was taken, due to his poor command of English. “There’s probably a sign stating that there’s reserved parking, and he probably can’t read English, so he’s getting yelled at.”
Parking spots, whether paid or not, are prone to causing disputes. However, it is possible to resolve any differences without resorting to vandalism of any sort.
