A week prior to Secret Invasion’s conclusion, the rebel Skrull leader’s full plan has been revealed. In his war against humanity, Gravik (Kingsley Ben-Adir) has stolen the power of Marvel heroes. To make matters worse, he plans to garner even more power by acquiring the Harvest. This serum, compiled by Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), was made from the spilled blood of several supers during the battle with Thanos in Avengers: Endgame. Gravik has proven himself a monster to the point where his followers are beginning to turn on him. But his monstrous nature can only become more dangerous with these powers. Let’s take a look at what Marvel heroes’ powers Gravik has stolen so far in Secret Invasion.
Gravik Has Flora Colossus and Cull Obsidian’s DNA
In Secret Invasion episode five, G’iah (Emilia Clarke) explains to Nick Fury that Gravik has thus far taken two DNA samples: Flora Colossus and Cull Obsidian. Cull Obsidian was, like Gamora and Nebula, a Child of Thanos. Cull was a loyal henchman to Thanos and possessed great superhuman strength. The character was killed during the attack on Wakanda in Avengers: Infinity War. By harvesting Cull’s DNA, Gravik has gained his immense strength and durability.
Flora Colossus is the name of the Groot species. Although Groot is the last of his kind, these humanoid tree-like aliens could elongate their limbs and turn them into powerful weapons. We’ve seen Groot manifest this ability many times throughout the MCU films. Now we’ve seen Gravik use this ability and each time it ended in someone’s brutal death.
Which Marvel Heroes’ Powers Could Gravik Steal Next?
G’iah explains that Gravik only took these samples because he couldn’t find what he really wanted: the Harvest. Fury explains to Sonya Falsworth (Olivia Colman) that nearly every Avenger spilled blood in the Battle of Earth and that a team of Skrull collectors was sent to collect their DNA. Gravik was one of these collectors, which is how he came up with the Super Skrull machine. The powers harvested include many mighty heroes such as Captain America, the Hulk, Thor Scarlet Witch, and even Captain Marvel. We’ve already seen the dangers of Scarlet Witch’s powers in WandaVision and Doctor Strange 2. Imagine those powers in the hands of Gravik and his rebel followers.
However, Fury emphasizes that Carol Danvers, a.k.a. Captain Marvel, was among those whose DNA was collected for the Harvest. As powerful as the other Avengers are, Danvers’ powers are in a different league. Any Avenger’s powers make Gravik a very dangerous threat, but adding Danvers’ abilities would make him nearly unstoppable.
Secret Invasion Finale: What Does Fury Have in Store for Gravik?
Despite the severe threat Gravik would pose with all these Marvel heroes’ powers, Fury is seemingly planning to hand the Harvest over to him. On the surface, this is even more insane than Fury’s decision to marry a Skrull. However, as his wife Varra says in episode four, Nick Fury is a man with a strong sense of righteousness who believes that “home is worth fighting for.” There’s no way he’s handing his planet over to Gravik that easily.
We will see how Gravik’s quest for these Marvel heroes’ powers plays out in the Secret Invasion finale on Wednesday, July 26.
