Selena Gomez has been one of the most recent celebrities accused of taking Ozempic. The rumors spread after fans noticed she appeared to look thinner during her latest red carpet appearances. The gossip ended up getting so out of control that stars like Whoopi Goldberg and Taylor Lautner had to ask people to leave Gomez alone. Now, the “Scared of Loving You” singer has broken her silence on the drama. Since the Selena Gomez Ozempic rumors couldn’t be further from the truth, the actress admitted feeling “bitter” toward the internet for spreading lies.
The Internet Can Be A Dark Place
The drama surrounding Selena Gomez’s weight was addressed during the newest episode of the On Purpose with Jay Shetty podcast. The Emilia Perez star went on the show alongside her fiancé, Benny Blanco. The couple was discussing their new joint album, I Said I Love You First, when the topic came up.
Gomez said she tries to steer clear of any negativity on social media, but she can’t always escape it. She admitted falling “victim” to online gossip just like everyone else. However, the only difference is that she’s often at the center of rumors instead of just reading about it. It’s “difficult” since everyone always seems to have an opinion about her life. For example, her relationships are constantly being talked about by fans and the media. Unfortunately, Gomez has come to realize that it comes with the territory of being a female celebrity. “Nobody cares about that stuff with men,” she said.
Selena Gomez’s weight is another big talking point. “Everybody just has something to say and it’s really making me sad,” the actress said, before clarifying, “Not even sad — no I’m not a victim — but I think it’s made me a tad bitter. And I feel really guilty for saying that. But it’s true.”
Apart from her love life and weight, Gomez said she also receives a lot of critical comments about her racial background. Since she’s mixed, she often gets told that she’s “not White enough.” At the same time, she’s been called “not Mexican enough.” Seeing so much negativity about herself online has influenced her to take regular social media breaks.
Selena Gomez Ozempic Rumors Take Over Internet
Selena Gomez’s comments came shortly after some fans began speculating that she had turned to Ozempic for weight loss. The Ozempic rumors spread as a result of her recent public appearances. Over the past few months, fans noticed that Gomez has been looking a lot thinner than she did just last year. Since she appeared to shed weight in such little time, they automatically assumed she went on weight-loss medication.
The rumors led to people debating whether Gomez looked “better” before or after. After taking notice of the discourse online, several celebrities came to the actress’ defense. The View host Whoopi Goldberg told fans that Selena Gomez’s weight loss was “none of your business.” She said it’s possible her appearance changed due to health reasons relating to her lupus diagnosis. Regardless, people shouldn’t pry since it doesn’t affect them.
Gomez’s ex-boyfriend, Taylor Lautner also defended her. The Twilight actor reminded people that words can “sting,” so they should try to “be a little bit nicer” to everyone.
