The PlayStation Blog has revealed the free PlayStation Plus games available to subscribers in September. The month brings two major PS4 titles to the masses, Destiny 2 and God of War 3: Remastered are headlining the lineup.
Destiny 2 is a shocking surprise, but not an outlandish one. Destiny 2’s big expansion, Forsaken will be coming to the game on September 4th. This move to make the game free before the release is likely to generate interest in the expansion after Destiny 2’s rough launch just a year ago. Players will still need to purchase Forsaken separately if they want to be in on the action. The expansion will cost you $40 at launch. Destiny 2 is available right now for free and will remain so throughout the duration of September.
God of War 3: Remastered is another welcome surprise. The stellar God of War reboot launched earlier this year to critical and commercial success. It’s safe to assume that the interest in the series is at an all-time high making God of War 3: Remastered the perfect game for PlayStation Plus this month. As for the games quality, God of War 3 is a fantastic hack and slash blockbuster and the culmination of the original Kratos saga. Fans of the new God of War should expect a very different experience, but one that is still enjoyable.
Here is the rest of the free games available through Playstation Plus in September:
- Knowledge is Power (PlayLink)
- Here They Lie (PS VR required)
- Another World — 20th Anniversary Edition (PS3, PS4, Vita)
- QUBE: Director’s Cut (PS3, PS4)
- Foul Play (PS4, Vita)
- Sparkle 2 (PS4, Vita)
Overall, a solid month for fans of the PlayStation Plus service. It’s nice to see that PlayStation is still committed to supporting their more niche initiatives with PlayLink and PlayStation VR titles being available as additives this month.
