Shania Twain may be known for her confidence and body positivity; however, she wasn’t born with these traits. The sensational singer recently got candid about her life, especially her struggles with identifying as a woman. Her body image problems stemmed from a traumatic childhood experience that nearly sent her down a different career path.
According to the Ka-Ching! hitmaker, her younger self, “was always insecure” about her body because people allegedly touched her inappropriately. Her problems didn’t end with sexual harassment as Twain found herself in “abusive situations” that made her hate being a woman. She told US Weekly:
“I hated being a girl. My mother goes, ‘What do you want to be when you grow up?’ and I said, ‘A bodybuilder.’ I wanted to be a big, strong man that nobody was going to f-ck around with. No one was going to touch my arm or my ass or anything unless I was OK with it.”
Shania Twain Spent Her Teenage Years Hiding

Because of the unsolicited attention in her teenage years, Twain spent her days hiding her female features. She recalled hating having “boobs” and “hips,” noting her idea of a perfect body was the “very, very thin” models she idolized. These skinny models, to the singer, were “a sign of elegance and feminine beauty.”
After years of struggling with her body image, Twain regained her confidence once she got older. She achieved this by getting behind the camera and developing a passion for clothes and fashion. She noted her popular song, Man, I Feel Like a Woman!, celebrated her renewed love for her body.
“I felt empowered behind the camera. I was like, ‘They can’t grab me. I’m safe,'” Twain recalled. As for those struggling with similar issues, the entertainer advised them to get “real” with themselves. She noted it was better to accept one’s true appearance instead of wishing for an unachievable dream body.
The ‘Party for Two’ Singer Has Her Husband Struggling To Keep Up in the Bedroom

Body image issues are a thing of the past for Twain, who felt rejuvenated last year. We covered the story last October, reporting the singer was wearing down her husband in the bedroom. A source claimed she had regained her sexual desire after enduring a 20-year battle with Lyme disease.
The insider noted Twain’s partner, Frederic Thiebaud, was elated about her newfound energy. However, dealing with his “sexually charged” was more than he bargained for. In the source’s words, “Shania’s libido is sky high. Frederic has been complaining to people that she’s wearing him out!”
Besides feeling drained, Thiebaud was allegedly concerned about keeping his wife satisfied. The informant noted he no longer had the “stamina of a twenty-something,” while Twain seemed to have regained hers. The singer was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2003 and has been vocal about her struggles.
From overcoming child traumas to surviving Lyme disease, Shania Twain continues to defy the odds. What will she do next?
