Actress Shannen Doherty died on July 13, following a 10-year battle with cancer. As her family, friends, and fans continue to mourn the loss of the Charmed star, one close pal claims she is waiting on Shannen to make good on a special promise she made before her death.
The loss devastated Holly Marie Combs, Shannen’s Charmed co-star and close friend. Following Shannen’s death, Combs took to Instagram to share a special tribute to Doherty and reflect on their friendship. Holly and Shannen seemed to spend much time together, sharing the good and bad times as Doherty fiercely battled cancer. She says they shared many essential and deep discussions.
One discussion centered around the afterlife. Holly Marie claims that before Shannen Doherty passed, she ‘promised to haunt her.’ So now, as she mourns Shannen’s death, she is also looking forward to receiving that message from the other side.
“Shannen promised to haunt me but I thought she’d be occupied with a few others at first. Alas I’m sure it will show up when and where I least expect it. My rock. 10:18.”
Charmed Co-Star Holly Marie Combs Shares Shannen Doherty Believed She Had More Time
Shannen Doherty was a true warrior when it came to fighting her cancer. The 90210 star was an open book; she hoped that sharing the details of her battle would help others. Holly Marie Combs told “House of Halliwell” hosts Brian Krause and Drew Fuller that Shannen always believed she had more time.
“I think she did as much as she could in the time that she had, but we did think we had more time,” a Combs stated.“That’s the really sad part. We had big, big plans for this year. She didn’t think she was going anywhere anytime soon.”
Doherty always surrounded herself with a “select group” of loved ones who had provided her with “a lot of care and support” throughout her battle, especially during her final days. Even though Shannen’s passing on July 13 was a shock, she was a longtime friend and doctor. Dr. Lawerence D. Piro shares that Shannen spent her last hours sleeping and transitioning in peace and comfort and surrounded by her loved ones.
Months before Shannen Doherty’s death, the actress revealed very specific last-wish requests during an episode of her podcast, Let’s Be Clear. Shannen shared with her listeners that she wanted her remains to be split and mixed with those of her dog and her father. She also suggested scattering her and her father’s ashes in Malibu, Calif., where they spent time together or using her remains to “grow them into a tree.”
